You have heard about fossil watches for a long time and could not begin to image what it was, a fossil-something long dead from the prehistoric era. Then, you learn that it is really a watch-a timepiece used by a lot of people. It is more of brand name than a specific item.

So, exactly what is it? Fossil is a designer and manufacturer of clothing and accessories, primarily in watches and jewelry, and they recently expanded into making sunglasses and wallets. But, you are not interested in the other items they make; you are interested in a watch and want to get one from this company.

Fortunately, their watches are considered accessible by the middle-class because they are reasonably priced and sold in most retail and department stores. They are especially well liked by younger people and collectors because they make specially designed watches in popular characters such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Green Lantern, Snoopy, Star Wars, Chronicles of Narnia, and in many other characters.

Fossil watches are made for both men and women. Ladies watches are made in gold, silver, leather, designer styles, are fully functional have interchangeable dials and special adjust-o-matic features which make it fit perfectly on any size wrist. The interchangeable dials and multi-colored straps are particularly popular as you can change it to perfectly coordinate your watch to your outfit-a fashion plus in today’s world. What can be more perfect that being able to change the look of your watch on a daily basis?

For formal evening wear, ladies may want a more elegant accent by wearing a dress gold or silver watch that can provide her with the perfect combination of durability and sophistication.

Men’s watches offer a greater combination of style and function in a variety of wristwatches and pocket watches. Regardless of whether you want a men’s dress wristwatch or casual wristwatch for fun and play, Fossil has hundreds of different makes, models and styles available. The hard part is picking out which one you want, but with the internet readily available, you can look at literally hundreds of different watches within 15 minutes.

Since Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are right around the corner, why not put a few hints that you want a Fossil watch for that day. It certainly beats flowers for mom or a new tie for dad-maybe you will actually get you want this year. Do some research and figure out which watch you want and then start showing it to your family.

Keep talking about finding the time to get to the mall to buy it, but you are always too busy to get there. Hopefully, they will take the hint and buy the watch for you. If the picture of your watch disappears, do not ask about it-just keep your fingers crossed that someone in the family has taken the hints and initiative to go and purchase it for you.

Just remember, try to act surprised when you open the box!

Case – the “body” of the watch. It contains the movement and is attached to the band on its extremes.

Dial – the face of the watch on which the hands and hour markers are put on.

Hands – the hour hand, minute hand, and second hand that keeps time.

Crown – the round-shaped winder that allows one to adjust the time, day, date, and movement.

Crystal – the glass that covers the dial. It comes in either a sapphire or plastic crystal.

Bezel – the round, outer-ring that seals the case.

Lugs – the two pointed edges that attach to the bracelet on both top and bottom ends of the case.

Bracelet – or the band, is the piece that wraps around the wrist. It is usually made of stainless steel or gold.

End Piece – the small metal piece that allows the bracelet to be attached to the case.

Spring Bar – a pushpin that holds the bracelet together.

Link – each “link” makes up the bracelet and can be removed or added to fit one’s wrist.

Baguette – ladies style watch featuring a thin rectangular or oval shape.

Balance Spring – controls the swing of the balance.

Bubbleback – expression used to describe the early Rolex Perpetual models, due to the thickness of the case used to house the oversized movement.

Chronograph – in addition to conveying standard time, it also performs a time measuring function such as a stop watch.

Divers’ Extension – a hinged extension within the watch’s bracelet, which allows the bracelet to be lengthened, to fit the divers’ wet suit.

Quick Set – this feature allows the date to be rapidly set via the winding crown, without having the hour hand pass the 12 o’clock position.

Concealed Clasp – the clasp buckle is concealed under the bracelet’s links, appearing to have a continuous flowing bracelet.

Hallmark – a mark or stamp indicating the purity of the metal, or the date, and/or country of import.

Mainspring – the principal spring of a watch that supplies the force of motion to the gear trains.

Perpetual Movement – another term for an automatic or self-winding movement, this movement causes a weight inside the watch to rotate backwards and forwards, thus keeping it in constant tension.

Serial Number – an identification number of a watch, usually engraved between the lugs, this number can often be used to date the production of the watch.

Sweeping Movement – refers to the movement of the second hand quickly ‘ticking’ at approximately 5-8 times per second, thus giving the illusion of sweeping.

About ROLEX:

rolex is a famous swiss watches brand.the watches sell to more than 150 countries.it is a top brand in swiss made lexury watches.it is best choice for the classes.

the first watch that Vintage Daytona chronograph. In 1905 Hans Wilsdorf and his brother-in-law Alfred Davis founded “Wilsdorf and Davis” in London. Their main business at the time was importing Hermann Aegler’s Swiss movements to England and placing them in quality cases made by Dennison and others. These early wristwatches were sold to jewellers, who then put their own names on the dial. The earliest watches from Wilsdorf and Davis were usually hallmarked “W&D” inside the caseback. In 1908 Wilsdorf registered the trademark “Rolex” and opened an office in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. The company name “Rolex” was registered on 15 November 1915. The word was made up, and its origin is obscure. Wilsdorf was said to want his watch brand’s name to be easily pronounceable in any language. One story, never confirmed by Wilsdorf, is that the name came from the French phrase horlogerie exquise, meaning “exquisite clockwork”. Another story claims that “rolex” was meant to evoke the sound of a watch being wound. The book The Best of Time: Rolex Wrist Watches by Jeffrey P. Hess and James Dowling says that the name was just made up. The Book A Movement in Time with Breitling & Rolex by Mark A Cooper states that the name came from the partner Alfred Davis and not Wilsdorf. Alfred Davis was a Rolls Royce driver and loved the quality of the car, something he wanted with Rolex. He used the name Rol and then added the popular watch name at the time ‘TIMEX’ to make the word Rolex.
Yacht-Master IIn 1919 Wilsdorf moved the company to Geneva, Switzerland where it was established as the Rolex Watch Company. Its name was later changed to Montres Rolex, SA, and finally Rolex, SA. The company moved out of the United Kingdom because taxes and export duties on the case metals (silver and gold) were driving costs up.Upon the death of his wife in 1944, Wilsdorf established the Hans Wildorf Foundation in which he left all of his Rolex shares, making sure that some of the company’s income would go to charity. The company is still owned by a private trust, and shares are not traded on any stock exchange.
